A master creator has once again proven that Minecraft is a game without limits. Recently, overseas player Clouser developed a remarkably complete Undertale mod, receiving unanimous praise from the fan community.

The sandbox survival game Minecraft, first released in 2011, continues to hold an unshakable position thanks to its extensive modding capabilities. Some have used it to recreate the Infinite Castle from Demon Slayer, while others have used it to achieve high-speed mecha battles from MechWarrior. Now, you can even experience the independent RPG masterpiece Undertale within Minecraft!

This Undertale mod was developed by Clouser and three core members. Upon entering the mod, players immediately see the familiar opening introduction. The subsequent dialogue, user interface UI, and classic bullet-hell dodge mechanics have all been perfectly recreated, with an unbelievable level of fidelity.

It’s particularly worth mentioning that while the main focus of the mod is to recreate Undertale, it also has its own unique style. Characters like Flowey, Froggit, and Toriel have undergone 3D remodeling and animation production. Designs such as retaining the health and experience UI, remaking the map scenes, and adjusting the camera perspective allow the mod to maintain Minecraft’s characteristics while being more than just a simple copy-paste job.

Observant players might also notice that the music seems a bit different? This is because all the music has been rearranged. The music OST portion (14 tracks total) was solely handled by Minecraft music creator NoteBlockMatt. He used the in-game noteblocks to rearrange and perform the tracks from Undertale. Judging by the sheer number of noteblocks visible in the videos he shared, this work required not only talent but also persistent dedication.

Given the mod’s high praise, many players are anticipating future updates. However, according to Clouser, developing just the prologue took him 800 hours, and subsequent content development will also take at least hundreds of hours. Coupled with the need to balance studies and other matters, updates may not be released too quickly.

The mod is currently available for download on the Modrinth website. It includes all the content from the prologue “The Ruins,” including the story, Easter eggs, and boss battles, and supports features like voice acting, custom skins/soul colors. Clouser also plans to add new features like multiplayer mode and a battle editor in the future, and may even change the gameplay, turning the mod into a true “Undertale Plus.” Players can support his development work through the Ko-fi sponsorship page, though Clouser emphasizes this is not necessary and hopes everyone doesn’t feel pressured.
